People and Culture Director 


Based in Hong Kong and reporting to our CEO, this role presents a hugely exciting opportunity to become the strategic people partner to a fast-growing and successful fintech business. Working in close collaboration - you will design, facilitate and support the people and culture agenda to help ensure our most important asset (our team) continues to thrive and develop in our business. 
Key responsibilities 

  • Provide strategic People / HR thought leadership on all elements of talent management that are directly linked to driving our business success, including workforce planning, strategic skills capability reviews and gap analysis, and succession planning for critical roles and key retains
  • Develop and implement training and mentoring practices to help or staff grow technically and professionally
  • Provide wise counsel (not HR best practices or process for HR sake) to the business in relation to our talent (the organisation, acquisition, development and retention of) and successfully influence and deliver strategies to meet business objectives 
  • Drive and embed our culture across our business, ensuring that all Coherent team members have a consistent and engaging experience which reinforces Coherent values but creates a two – way symbiotic partnership with employees 
  • Formulate and implement People programs, policies and procedures that are in compliance with all local employee legislation and which are aligned to the way we want to conduct business 
  • Have oversight of local employment legislation to enable you to be a point of escalation for complex ER issues or barriers to entry for new markets 
  • Be accountable for Employee Experience and engagement initiatives – improving the engagement and retention of Coherent team members


Skills And Experience Required 

  • Proven experience in a fast-paced, people leadership role in either technology or FMCG (also consider financial services) businesses.  
  • Experience in developing innovative, bold strategic initiatives which support business strategy
  • Accustomed to working closely with all levels of staff, with the ability to influence and challenge when needed 
  • Commercially focused and data driven with a demonstrable track record of adding value to the organisation 
  • Passionate about creating an awesome candidate and employee experience and being an employer of choice 
  • Self-motivated and an idea generator – not satisfied with maintaining the status quo
  • In-depth knowledge of HR policies and good practice with can be combined with pragmatism to provide the right fit for Coherent 
  • Highly service orientated – people above process 
  • Proactive, organised and efficient – able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
